carolyn’s lingerie shower (a.k.a. the cupcake post)

Abigail (and I, I suppose) hosted Carolyn’s lingerie shower yesterday.  Obviously (and somewhat unfortunately), I won’t be posting ALL the good photos from the par-tay since there may have been some “unmentionables” laying around…lingerie and otherwise.

(We even took a great group photo…while standing under all of Carolyn’s gifts that were currently hanging up on display.  Photo fail.)

Here’s the bride, with her sparkling strawberry spritzer and personalized sash:

If you can’t read it, it says “Future Mrs. Tatlow.”

But, the stars of the show were really these babies:

High-heel cupcakes!

Andrew’s mom found out about them on one of her morning shows and they’re featured in this cupcake book.  Abigail and I (well, mostly me–the perfectionist in me took over, I think) made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and assembled them for the shower.  Honestly, not all that hard to do, but getting them to stand up straight was just a bit tricky.  Totally worth the effort.

And, Abigail wanted to re-create something she found on Pinterest:

A zebra-striped cake!  She and I were both flying a bit blind the other day in my kitchen–due to a lack of directions and the extreme heat of baking on a hot day–but I’d say we succeeded.

The adorable host, doing what she does best:

And can ya tell the girl likes pink?!  Really, they both do.  We’re all already at a loss wondering what Abigail will do for her (eventual) wedding since between Carolyn as the bride and Abigail as her maid of honor, there is pink EVERYWHERE.

I wonder if Abigail has seen Steel Magnolias…(Check out the first entry under ‘Dialogue.’)

fabulous, fun-filled Friday

Yesterday was pretty darn good.

Let’s just say that one of the first things Emily and I discussed when we met up for lunch yesterday was cupcakes.  She was jonesing for one, and I knew just the place 🙂  Emily had never been to East Aurora before, so we’ve been meaning to have an ‘East Aurora date’ for awhile now.  Thankfully, we were blessed with some of the best weather of the year and freedom from school schedules.  We ate lunch outside at Arriba, walked all over the village, got iced coffees at Taste and popped into Vidler’s.  To close our fun-filled day, we made our way to Firefly, where I tried the ‘Trevoreo’ and she got the Key Lime.  Heaven, I tell you.

As usual, I’m wishing I’d taken photos so I could blog about everything, but thankfully this time someone else did it for me!  Emily is also a blogger (and dietetics student at Buff State), so click here to check out our day!

And as if I hadn’t had enough blissful enjoyment of quaint East Aurora for one day, Andrew and I dined on the patio at Rick’s on Main to celebrate my semester well done.  If only we’d had room for Kone King on our way out of town…

We’re prepping for a last-minute camping trip tonight with Andrew’s friends from work (which has thrown me into a tizzy that I’m trying to shake off as we speak), and looking forward to spending some quality time together on my first Saturday with no school!

finished!

Well, almost.

I just had MY LAST CLASS of the semester; all that stands between me and summer vacation is a quiz (who does that?!) and the FINAL.  This weekend = massive amounts of studying.

Look!  It’s a lunchable:

My mom never bought those for us as kids (she was far too healthy for that–I swear I was the first kid ever to eat brown rice and whole-wheat pancakes…), and now I can only thank her for it 🙂

Sahlen’s ham from Wegmans, 1.5 slices light swiss cheese, an apricot fruit cup packed in juice (total impulse buy) and no-salt-added vegetable juice (another impulse purchase).  It’s a light lunch; I’m headed out to East Aurora to run an errand and then get some coffee at Firefly Cupcakes (french press!) and take advantage of the quiet atmosphere for some studying.  When I need a snack (and change of scenery!), I think I’ll head over to Taste, since they have healthier options on their menu…

Not that I don’t like cupcakes, Wendy!  But, this Bible study is teaching me to tame my sweet tooth…  (If I lose all resolve and a cupcake JUST CALLS TO ME, I’ll just eat half.)
