my first overnight

My first night away from Maelle was decidedly anticlimactic. Since becoming a mother, I’d assumed there would be tremendous dread and anxiety associated with that first trip away from my baby girl. I imagined tears–both hers and mine–shed as I drove off.

Nope. Instead, I got a half-hearted ‘bye mama’ as she pranced around in her jammies, ready to play with papa all day.

Chagrin Falls, party of four

Last weekend, Maelle and I took our first big trip all by ourselves!  When Andrew found out he had to take a business trip to Italy and Germany (lucky duck!), I knew I’d need to break up the time somehow, so I planned a trip to see my bestie, Emily.  She also has a new baby, five-month-old Emmett, and we thought it would be perfect to meet in the middle at our favorite destination, Chagrin Falls.
