Sweetness 7

*STILL working on the post about last weekend’s trip to Ohio… Enjoy this in the meantime!

So, Friday after Christmas, Regina and I FINALLY (and I mean finally–we hadn’t seen each other since JULY) got together for a brunch date.  Where did we go? A cute-as-can-be little creperie in Buffalo near the zoo.  Andrew and I had actually pointed it out before while driving by and remarked that it was a must-try.

We ordered coffee first–a regular for her and a Vanilla Ginger Latte for me.  I was all set to get a regular coffee (cheaper, fewer calories), but the word ‘ginger’ on the menu caught my eye and I couldn’t resist.

There was even a hunk of crystallized ginger in the mug!  I would definitely get it again.  Andrew is a huge crepe fan (who knew?), so I’m sure we’ll find our way back there at some point.

When we decided on our breakfast, it was a nutella and banana topped crepe for Regina and a baked-brie-filled, sauteed apples-topped crepe for me.  Heavenly.

And, fingers-crossed, Regina and I have another date coming up next week.  This time, we’ll probably partake in a little frozen yogurt…

oh hawaiian, how i’ve missed thee

Tonight, I had something I haven’t had in LONG time: pineapple on my pizza.

Per our usual lately, Andrew and I opted for a quick (i.e. take-out) dinner since we spent much of the day toiling away at our various projects (updates to come soon).

We’d just received a mailer for a new place that just opened up–Leo’s–in East Aurora and after Andrew mentioned they had hawaiian on the menu, I was sold.  Neither Pasquale’s, John and Mary’s nor Capelli’s (all our go-to pizza places) even have pineapple on the menu!  SAD.

The good news: I got ham and pineapple on my pizza, and their wings are pretty good.  I still have two slices of my personal-size pizza to eat tomorrow.

The bad news: It really wasn’t that good at all.  Really sub-par crust, if you ask Andrew.

So, we won’t be going back there any time soon, I don’t think.

However, there is hope: Our neighbors have gotten pineapple on their pizza before (is it weird that I know that?), and I don’t think they got it from Leo’s, since it’s so new and all.  Must ask them from where they order their pizza…

Again, LOTS of progress being made all over the place this weekend.  Will post photos as soon as I can 🙂

all stocked up

Perry’s was on sale at Wegmans the other day.

Only $2.99 each!  (The night before, it was $5.49 at Tops.  I know because Andrew and I arrived at Kone King at 10:07 thinking they were open until 11, but they close at 10 since school is back in session.  The next best thing: pick up ice cream across the street at Tops.)

So, the next morning when I was grocery shopping at Wegmans, of course I was going to pick up a few of my favorites!  And plus, now that summer is over, it’s not like we’re going to be going out for ice cream on an every-other-night basis…  And they aren’t ALL for me; I got the Rainbow Sherbet for Andrew 🙂

Just call me an ‘ice-cream-aholic.’
