third time’s a donut

I’m at this particular West Seneca Dunkin’ Donuts for the third time in five days. For real. (Study dates.)

This morning, I’m solo and killing time before my chiropractor appointment across the street. DD’s blueberry donuts are my weakness, yet I rarely allow myself to get them. Their sweet, blueberry goodness and purple inside remind me of childhood–visiting Bamma and Top in DC on weekends when we still lived in Pennsylvania.

Well, after a hard swim workout, I figured now was as good a time as ever to splurge on one of my favorite treats. I packed a Greek yogurt with berries and added a medium BLUEBERRY coffee. (It seriously tastes like blueberry.)

Now, onto studying glycolysis for my biochem test tomorrow! (Which is really a review, since our first test in advanced nutrition this semester covered this very topic, which is the breakdown of glucose–carbohydrate we eat, essentially–in our bodies.)

I’m IN

…the coordinated program, that is!

After applying, writing a bio sketch, having recommendations sent, sitting for two interviews and then waiting for weeks and weeks…the acceptance letters were in.

Fifteen minutes before our giant test in advanced nutrition.

After much deliberation (OK, like two minutes), we all ran across the way to the dietetics building to pick up our letters. I had said I was going to wait until after the test to open mine, but who was I kidding!? I tore that baby open and breathed a huge sigh of relief to see the word ‘congratulations’ at the top of the page.

Many of us were all smiles returning to the test, and at least I was a little less anxious during knowing I had something to celebrate. Speaking of celebrations…

Andrew and I went to McDonalds (of all places) to celebrate since we waited to long to go to Kone King.

For MONTHS we’ve talked about the nice dinner we were going to go to once I got accepted, (IF I got accepted) and he gets deathly ill at just that time! Oh well, there is always the weekend 🙂

And we had a little adventure sitting together enjoying our Micky-D’s treats. It was like we were on a college date again. And I guess we kinda were.

(At least now I know I only have two more years instead of three!)

Finally, I’m able to enjoy some time outside at school, as opposed to taking shelter from the cold temps, wind, rain and snow that is Buffalo:

Not that we’re totally out of the woods in terms of cold weather, but a girl can dream.

In other news, eating lunch outside was an ‘experience’ today. Let’s just say that if I were an employer, I wouldn’t hire a single one of the immature, smoking, cursing, shrieking, ‘students’ around me. But then again, such is (some of) Buffalo… Guess I’ll have to go inside to concentrate.
