It’s that time of year…when everyone is sick. And it’s not just COVID; it’s everything. The sniffles, cough, the stomach bug—you name it, someone around you has it. Have kids? Just wait—it’s coming for you, too. This is my first winter during which my daughter is old enough to be having play dates, which has equated to an uptick in our illnesses at home. Super fun, I tell you.

Be Mindful During the Holiday Season
I don’t know about you, but I got into the Christmas spirit early this year; I started listening to 102.5 a whole MONTH early, and I even made tree-shaped muffins while the leaves were still falling. We’ve been watching Christmas movies on a nightly basis, including Scrooged, that ‘B-rated’ Bill Murray flick I should not have watched as a child. Murray plays Mr. Cross, a 1980s version of Scrooge, who is of course visited by three ‘spirits’ (all of whom are frightening) and eventually changes his miserly ways by the end of the movie. It was both nostalgic and disappointing at the same time.

Thanksgiving is almost—gasp!—upon us, and I AM NOT PREPARED. (I’ve been up to my elbows planning a little race called the Turk-EA Trot—heard of it?) Thankfully, I’m not hosting, but I still always want to make ‘my own’ Thanksgiving FOR THE LEFTOVERS. I didn’t appreciate how much I would miss my favorite childhood dishes now that we spend Thanksgiving at my in-laws’ house. Apparently, as a kid I naively thought everyone served the exact same food on Thanksgiving. Not so.
