a very pink cabinet

Because I needed something ELSE to add to my to-do list this summer, I decided to paint the cabinet in Maelle’s bathroom. (Thanks, Emily.)

When I gave the hall bathroom a little makeover this Spring, my bestie (Emily, from above) mentioned that she thought the cabinet would look better white. I agreed, but knew it would be a tedious job due to the ‘woven’ look of the cabinet doors, and didn’t have time to tackle it just then. Here’s a quick before:

Well, something about buying paint samples for OUR HOUSE (yes, we’re getting *ever closer* to that home reno that’s been in the works for, like, FIVE YEARS) got me excited, and before I knew it, Maelle was helping me choose a paint color.

As you can see, I had an uncharacteristic ‘fun mom’ moment and let her pink PINK. It was against my better judgement at the time, I admit, and I regretted the decision almost immediately. But, she loves pink, I’d selected the correct shade to match the bathroom accessories, and some part of me must have been OK with it. However, I had to quiet the voice in my head telling me that mint would have been a more ‘neutral’ shade, especially since I WAS NOT going to paint it again.

(Not pictured: the can of white spray paint I started with, assuming that would do the job. It didn’t, and then Andrew suggested painting it a color, instead of white, and now you’re all caught up.)

Well, the Lord truly went before me on this one, and I slowly but surely fell in love with the pink!

In all honesty, I think the particular shade of green I’d chosen (to give Maelle two choices from which to pick) would have been entirely too bright. The accessories on top and the towels next to the cabinet really make it pop.

And now I absolutely love glancing at her bathroom every time I walk by. I’ve been dreaming of the day I could turn it into HER bathroom, and now I get to enjoy it. One day, I’m sure we’ll update it, but until then, it’s sweet and happy and bright–just like our girl.
