Chagrin Falls, party of four

Last weekend, Maelle and I took our first big trip all by ourselves!  When Andrew found out he had to take a business trip to Italy and Germany (lucky duck!), I knew I’d need to break up the time somehow, so I planned a trip to see my bestie, Emily.  She also has a new baby, five-month-old Emmett, and we thought it would be perfect to meet in the middle at our favorite destination, Chagrin Falls.

Maelle and I set off on Saturday morning and made it there with only one big stop for a potty break (me) and a nursing break (her). It was a beautiful sunny day and I happily sat on a park bench outside with the highway to my back.

Emily and I have been going to Chagrin Falls for a few years now, since it’s exactly halfway between Dayton, OH and Buffalo, NY. This time, with the babes, we opted for adjoining hotel rooms instead of staying at the local bed and breakfast.

There is a cute little grocery store in town named Heinan’s, and we did lots of picnic meals on my Matilda Jane picnic blanket (thanks Aunt Donna!) so the babies could stretch out.

We popped into our favorite boutiques, ate Jeni’s ice cream cones and–of course–snapped a photo in front of the falls.

The adjoining hotel rooms were nice so we could have the babies together on a play mat or in the Dock-A-Tot (Emmett) or Boppy Lounger (Maelle) while we visited or got ready. It was Maelle’s first big car ride, night in a hotel and chance to sleep in her travel crib, and she did great. Doing this trip made us excited for the trip to Florida our families are taking together in January!

I hope the babies had as much fun as we did!
