In early April, we joined Andrew’s sister, Abigail, and her family at Penn State for the weekend! (I’m pretty sure this was a VERY belated reschedule of a trip we’d planned for spring of 2020, that–obviously–got cancelled.) While the weather didn’t really cooperate, we still had a great time visiting each other and our beloved campus.
Just look at those girls on the lion! Future roomies??

We stayed together at an Airbnb just outside of State College, and we arrived on Friday night in time to do a pizza dinner at the house. We also celebrated both Johnson kiddos’ birthdays, since Nora’s is in March and Hampton’s would be coming up in early May. We gave Nora this Squishmallow Spot It! game (one of Maelle’s favorites) and the girls played it all weekend. We also surprised them with matching Ariel jams, which Abigail and I bought after our trip to Disney in February.

The boys were actually at Penn State for ‘business.’ Both Andrew and Marvin were in the Honors College during their time at Penn State, and they participated in a business panel discussion session with current students on Saturday.
Obviously, while the boys were busy, Abigail and I wrangled the kids for a trip to the Penn State Creamery! (It’s still so weird for me to go to the ‘new’ creamery…when Andrew and I were students, it was still in the itty bitty building in North.)

We also walked through the business building, which is close to where the boys were speaking and where Abigail spent a lot of her time at school, and snapped this adorable photo:

Again, future roomies??
On Sunday morning, we hit the Waffle Shop for breakfast, which is ABSOLUTELY what you must do when you’re at Penn State. The lines are out the door all weekend, but it’s worth it for the chocolate chip pancakes and nostalgia.

After breakfast, we all walked the campus before heading downtown. Andrew snapped this photo of Maelle sitting in one of the desks in the Forum Building.

We had to get a family photo at the fish tank! This fish tank in the HUB has probably been the designated meeting spot for friends since it was put in. Andrew and I would meet up here constantly while we were students.

After buying our souvenirs downtown (gotta stock up on our PSU gear!), we had one more cone at the creamery before we headed out.
