One thing is new, one is a repeat.
This year, for the first time, Maelle and I (and maybe Andrew?) will be participating in the 1000 Hours Outside Challenge. I heard about it a few years ago, and some of our ‘outdoorsy’ friends have done it before. I always enjoyed seeing their hour updates–tracked on coloring sheets–but never really thought it was something I could do.
And then I reconsidered. Why couldn’t Maelle and I give it a try? What’s the worst that could happen–we’d spend more time outside than usual, but not hit the 1,000-hour goal? When you put it that way, it seemed silly not to.
The website provides a variety of coloring sheets to track your hours, and we’ve already started filling ours in!

Second, and this isn’t new, I’m reading my Bible in a year again.

I read it through last year, using a special Bible that gave me a selection from the Old Testament, the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs each day. This year, I’m going to read it chronologically using a reading plan and my own Bible. The picture above shows my study Bible, which includes a lot of additional information, and while I’d love to read all of that, too, I doubt I will.
Just like the 1000 Hours, I used to think reading the Bible from cover to cover was out of my reach. But what’s that saying about how you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
