snow things

About a week ago, we got a big snow! We woke up to a couple feet with more coming down…it always makes me smile to watch the snow accumulate. Even though I’m well past the days of having a ‘snow day’ from school, I still feel that excitement each time.

So big, in fact, that we needed a little help cleaning the driveway… Andrew was sick, our snowblower was broken and there was no way I was going to be able to shovel it all. Thankfully, the Lord answered my prayers (literally) and provided a way to clear our driveway. Praise the Lord.

With the start of ski season approaching, I began my hunt for a ski jacket. While I’ve had ski pants for years, I’ve haven’t gotten a new ski jacket since I was a kid. I finally found one I loved, and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. My pants are a dark teal, and this jacket included that same color but also brought in some other colors I liked a lot. In truth, it was the only jacket I saw that I liked at all.

However, when I compared it to the photo online, it was A LOT darker than expected. I knew there would be some color variation, but as you can see, the jacket I’m wearing above has a lot of gray portions. Here’s a photo of what I saw online:

So, I contacted Dope (the company), and they were so understanding! They overnighted me another jacket at no cost, and I ordered another one as well, thinking that with three options, I’d be able to choose the best one of the bunch. Here are the two new ones I received:

Unfortunately, it was a hard decision, as they were ALL darker than expected, but the one on the left (above) is a touch lighter (you can mostly tell by comparing the left side of the front of the jacket).

Here I am in my new jacket, helmet and ski goggles!

The helmet was a great find, as it’s the SAME color as my ski pants, and you can see that my jacket lightens up in the daylight. Because Maelle and I have our own skis, we can go to Emery Park, which is only a 10-minute drive from our house and has a couple short runs and a magic carpet that are FREE.

It’s a great place to take your kids when they are little and learning. Maelle and I plan to go to Emery every time it snows this winter!
