how we’re spending our time in quarantine

Just like everyone else, we’re spending A LOT of time at home these days.  Admittedly, my day-to-day hasn’t changed all that much since I’m still home with the baby much of the time.  However, now that we’re in week three of social distancing, I’m starting to feel the lack of play dates, walks with friends and errand-running.  I can’t even imagine how I’d handle having school-aged children home, suddenly, and attempting to keep them busy educate them!

With spring not quite here yet, we aren’t outside as much as we’d like to be.  Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of playtime happening in Maelle’s room.  She loves pulling toys out of baskets and bins.  The other day I helped her stand on a cushion and look out the window, which was a huge hit.  Our neighbors were on the driveway and she squealed with delight when she saw them!

I continued with my organizing kick and tackled a few of the drawers in our downstairs desk.  I still have one drawer to go, but I’m especially proud of my new-and-improved stationery drawer.

We were missing our nearest and dearest–the Nyes–at our St. Patrick’s Day dinner this year (so sad), but we still pulled out all the stops and made sure Maelle experienced our traditional dinner.  She absolutely loved her corned beef and cabbage and rye toast, as well as a mini cupcake with green frosting.

Sometime around Christmas, Andrew and I started a ‘Friday Night Movie Night’ tradition, and we soon added homemade pizza to menu as well.  I’ve really enjoyed making Friday nights special in our house.  In an effort to support our local businesses, we’ve started ordering dinner on Friday nights instead.  This past weekend, we ordered a family-sized make-your-own taco kit from Arriba, and we are STILL eating the leftovers!  Two weeks ago, we ordered steaks from Rick’s and made it a true ‘date night’ by eating after Maelle went to bed, complete with candles, cards and wine. The food was delicious and we realized it was only the second (!!!) time we’ve had a ‘dinner date’ since Maelle was born!  Once this pandemic is over, Andrew and I need to get out more…

Despite some cool temps and rain, Maelle and I have gotten out on walks almost every day, and usually more than once.  We’ve transitioned her to sitting facing out in her stroller (even though she still fits in her infant seat), and she loves to look around.  I also love my Líllébaby carrier and have been wearing her for lots of walks.

Andrew has been working from home, which I love.  He uses the guest room as his office, and he has breakfast with us and pops into the playroom every now and again to say hello.  He’s made it out on a couple walks, too. We really like having papa around!

How about you?  How are you spending the extra time at home?
