I attended my first homeschool conference last weekend! While Maelle goes to ‘morning kindergarten’ at a local church this year, we plan to homeschool her more traditionally going forward. Next year, I plan to keep her home each morning and do most of her subjects, and then have her attend a homeschool co-op a few afternoons a week.

OBX 2024

My favorite time of the year is my family’s annual trip to the beach. We go for two weeks in September, and while the initial grocery shop/drive down/unpack is a big lift, but it’s all worth it for 14 relaxing days by the ocean.

a girls’ (and a boy) camping trip

As if life wasn’t hectic enough right after we moved back into our house, I agreed to go camping last-minute with my girlfriend, Wendy, and her son, Frankie. They had already planned a single night at Jellystone, which is a nearby camping and recreation area, and they invited Maelle and me to join. I hadn’t been camping in years, but I figured this was the perfect occasion to dust off the camping gear and have some fun winging-it when the stakes were (very) low.
