This is the first of a three-part post about our trip to Florida in February. A while ago, my sisters-in-law started planning a trip to Disney since all the kids are at a good age to go. (We surprised them with the news on Christmas morning.). As it turned out, Andrew had two work trips that sandwiched our Disney trip, so Maelle and I got an extra dose of sunshine!
We flew into Orlando, and then drove to Melbourne, which is on the Space Coast.

What a wonderful reprieve from the snow and cold of WNY! It’s so hard to believe that we can be in the same country, at the same time, but at the beach in one state and skiing in the other. While I love snow and skiing and all things cozy, I also love the beach. I grew up near the beach, and I’ve never felt so land-locked in my life as I do now. Maelle makes TWO beach girls in this family!

Andrew had the neat idea to pick up some art supplies at the store so we could all paint the sunset one evening. It was really fun, if a little windy.

While we were there, we celebrated Valentine’s Day! I’d brought some decorations and a few goodies with us, and we ended up with a heart-shaped pepperoni pizza from Papa Johns, too!

While Andrew had to work for a few days while we were there, we did take some time to visit Cocoa Beach and the Ron Jon Surf Shop. Maelle loves putt-putt, and even got a hole-in-one!

Next stop: Walt Disney World!
