Another fun holiday to celebrate in the fall is Dia de Los Muertos! I’ve always been intrigued by the colorful sugar skulls and flowers, and I thought it would be a fun thing to incorporate into our homeschool.
Maelle and I made a colorful tissue paper banner, I decorated the table with flowers and even set up an ‘ofrenda’ for pictures. (I had two grandparents pass away within the last year or so, so we focused on talking about Bamma and Grandpa Jimmy.) We also made psole, a pork and hominy soup, and purchased sweet bread. Maelle and I decorated cake skulls with sugar decorations for dessert.

We invited the Nyes over for our lunch, and read some of the library books we’d checked out to learn about the holiday. We ran out of time to watch Coco, so we’ll have to do that next year!

Unfortunately, I didn’t take enough photos… Definitely looking forward to celebrating again next year!
