house project: it’s a messy job

I mean, I KNEW it would be messy, and I swear it’s not bothering me (I promise!), but I am starting to wonder how I’m going to clean this all up… The logical side of my brain assures me that the contractors will do a cursory clean up job, and that I’ll come in at some point toward the end and start dusting. And dusting. And dusting.

BUT WHEN IS THAT POINT?! And when I get in, HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE?!

There is literally dust EVERYWHERE. And they haven’t even drywalled yet. (Insert wide-eyed emoji here.)

Because our project is just a partial renovation, we still have all our bathrooms and most of the rooms intact upstairs. It’s a huge blessing, especially since we’re at the house almost every day, but this first-floor bath is REALLY looking rough.

Debris from taking that tile floor out:

Also, these towels were white… Yikes. Glad I put them down, although I think we’re getting to a point where I need to shop-vac the mess and re-cover the carpet with plastic before the drywall dust begins.

Meanwhile, our belongings are scattered around the remaining rooms. I stashed all the plants in our bathroom, so they could be watered easily. The other side of the bathroom holds a bunch of miscellaneous bedroom and closet items.

The homeschool room is mostly toys and more clothes, which I stashed here knowing I’d need access to them as the seasons changed. (The clothes, not the toys; I’ve been pretty militant about not bringing anything with us to Gram’s–she has plenty of toys and books!) I think I miss this room the most, strangely enough. It was the room I most recently decorated, and it’s so cozy and happy.

Just keepin’ it real! I feel like I’m actually doing shockingly well with all the mess…
