And now for the fun part – new construction! We’ve been dying to see how all of these designs on paper would look in real life, and it’s all finally coming together!
After the contractors demoed and reframed the porch, they began framing the new entry way into our house. It includes a vestibule and covered porch. Also, can you believe this photo was taken in late February?! It was a beautiful day.

You can see Justin, our A-team carpenter, on the right in the photo below working on the roof. These curves are quite the show-stoppers (apparently everyone walking by comments on them to the contractors) but also a lot of work.

Here she is! A gable roof with double curves over a small porch ahead of the new vestibule. Our front doors will be where the plywood door is now. If you recall from the overview post, we originally (and for a long time) had a barrel curved roof over this porch in the design. Andrew and the architect loved it, but my dislike for it grew and grew. As soon as the architect came up with this gable and curves, I thought it was perfect.

Next is framing for the kitchen addition, that includes a curved roof as well!
